Get started with the Revolut Reader

To start using your Revolut Reader, follow the steps below to set it up and connect it to your account. These instructions will help you get started smoothly.

Revolut Reader checklist

Before setting up and using your Revolut Reader, make sure you meet these requirements:

  • Confirm your Merchant account:
    Ensure you've been approved for a Revolut Merchant account.
    Learn more about Merchant accounts.

  • Verify app compatibility:
    Make sure you're using one of the compatible apps:

    • Revolut (for Pro users)
    • Revolut Business
    • Revolut POS

    Also, confirm your device meets these requirements:

    • iOS 13.0 or later, or Android 6 or later.
    • Bluetooth v4.2 or above, with Bluetooth Low Energy support.
    • For Android devices, ensure location services are enabled.
  • Update the app:
    Download and install the latest version of your relevant app (Revolut for Pro users, Revolut Business, or Revolut POS).

  • Prepare your Revolut Reader:
    Charge your Revolut Reader fully and position it close to your phone or tablet.

  • Check your internet connection:
    Confirm that your internet connection is stable.

Order Revolut Reader

Depending on your account type, you have different options to order your Revolut Reader. Select the appropriate tab below for step-by-step instructions.

  1. Log in to your Revolut Business account via a web browser.
  2. Navigate to the Merchant > In-store menu and click the Revolut Reader banner.
  3. Review product details and click on Add to cart.
  4. Click to review your order details, then click Checkout.
  5. Enter your delivery and payment details to complete the order. You can pay by card or with funds from one of your pockets.
  6. Click Order for ... to finalise your order.

Connect Revolut Reader

Depending on your account type, you have different options to connect your Revolut Readers. Select the appropriate tab below for step-by-step instructions.

To connect multiple readers to one device, repeat these steps for each reader.

caution

Make sure your reader is not connected to another device.

  1. Turn on your reader by pressing the power button next to the charging port.
  2. Open the Revolut Business app on the phone or tablet you want to connect to the reader.
  3. Go to the Merchant tab and tap on > Devices .
  4. Tap Scan for Readers. The scan will start automatically if Bluetooth and location services are enabled.
  5. Match the number in the list with the last three digits of the serial number on the back of your reader and select the appropriate reader.
  6. Confirm the 6-digit code displayed on your screen to complete pairing.
note

On Android, the pairing code might appear in your notification panel.

Revolut Reader updates

Once your reader is connected to your phone or tablet, the app will automatically trigger a software update on the reader. Wait for the update to finish before using your reader.

During the update, the reader displays the progress. After the update, the reader will reboot. Firmware updates can take up to several minutes.

caution

Do not turn off the reader, lock your phone/tablet or close the Revolut app while the update is in progress. This can cause unexpected behaviours and the update to fail.
